Three song hits in one picture!
And the picture is “The Painted
Angel,” starring Billie Dove, Wed-
nesday and Thursday at the Aggie
theater.
Probably you’ve heard these songs
already. If not, you’ll hear them soon,
and probably you’ll be playing or
humming or whistling them. For they
have conquered Broadway and every
other place where “The Painted An-
gel,” a First-National and Vitaphone
production, has been seen or heard.
All three of the songs were writ-
ten by Herman Ruby and M. K. Je-
rome, the former fitting the lyrics to
the latter’s melodi'us strains. It is a
famous partnership along Tin Pan
Alley, though it has now moved its
herdquarters to Hollywood, the new
musical comedy capital.
For the first time in her screen ca-
reer, Billie Dove sings and dances in
“The Painted Angel.” Her role is that
of a night club hostess and entertain-
er, the plot of the picture being based
upon a sh<nrt story -by Fannie Hurst,
entitled “Give This Little Girl a
Hand.” Edmund Lowe, famous on
stage and screen, is leading man, and
the production was directed by that
maker of many movie hits, Millard
Webb.
“The Painted Angel” is a play with
music. It is full of action, full of
comedy, and full of the gay night
