Farmers today got a last-
minute reminder about impor-
tant upcoming elections of ASC
farmer-committeemen who will
serve for the next year as local
administrators of national farm-
action programs.
According to John S Groom,
chairman of the Agricultural
Stabilization and Conservation
County Committee, eligible
voters of Creek county will cast
ballots for community commit-
teemen by mail. Ballots were
mailed to all eligible voters on
Sept. 8 and must be postmarked
or returned in person, to the
ASC office, Bristow on or be-
fore Sept. 19,1967.
Qualified voters in the election
are all farmers who are elig-
ible to take part in one or more
of the farm programs which
the committees administer.
Lists of eligible voters in each
community are available for
public inspection in the ASCS
county office.
Last year, 840 farmers -
46 percent of all the farmers
in Creek County - took part
in one or more programs admin-
istered by the ASC committees.
F unds disbursed under the com-
mittees’ supervision amounted
to $320,000 - $13,624 in price-
support payments and$85,360.00
in diversion payments under co-
mmodity programs, $6,384 in
wheat marketing certificates,
and $161,514 as theGovernfnent’s
share of the cost of conserving

the Agricultural Conservation
Program.
