Fire of unknown origin had
almost totally destroyed the
mam plant and several adjoining
buildings of the Tibbens Gaso-
line plant four miles east of
Srpulpa at three o'clock this
afternoon. The loss was unof-
ficially estimated at over $100.-
000. At three o'clock the blaze
was raging practically unchecked
and explosions of a number of
gasoline tanks, which were un-
der pressure, were expected mo-
mentarily. Several minor blasts
had already occurred. Resi-
dences of plant employees were
being menaced by the flames but
workmen were trying hard to
prevent the-r being ignited, fight-
ing the f re under difficulties
owing to lack of proper facilities
for the purpose. The Tibbens
plant is one of the large gasoline
plants in this vicinity. Roads
were blocked and all travellers
were being warned by local au-
thorities to stay away from the
scene of the fire to tne menace
of explosions.
