Local firefighter exits American Heritage Bank after searching with a team of men to locate what-
ever might have set off the fire alarm late Friday evening.
The Sapulpa Fire
Department was called late
Friday evening to American
Heritage Bank when the busi-
ness’ fire alarms went off.
Employees of S & R
Cleaning Inc. were busy doing
their evening cleaning when
they were interrupted by the
sounds of the alarms. It was
only a lew minutes before sev-
eral firefighters responded to
the call.
There were three fire trucks
on the scene, as well as the
Sapulpa Police Department.
Fire fighters did a thorough
check throughout the building,
but there was no sign of a fire
on either floor.

(Keystone) was created,"
he said.
In February the dive team
conducted its first formal
search for 2008. They found a
stolen truck at the bottom of
the Cimarron River.
Keystone Lake is a popular
fishing spot and trot lines are a
frequent hazard for divers.
Cooper said divers can easily
get hung on the lines.
Sheriff Steve Toliver said
the department is very fortu-
nate to have the custom-built
. 18,5-Mt boat Hendrick uses
to conduct his lake patrolman
duties.
The $25,000 investment
will carry its two-man patrol
unit and a variety of diving
equipment. Hendrick said it
can carry several people —
basically a thousand pounds.
Toliver said the boat was
designed to handle several dif-
ferent tasks — dragging opera-
tions. water patrol and diving.
Cooper said the business
community has made several
valuable donations of money
and equipment to the dive
team.
“We will be pleased to
accept any donations,” he said.
Hendrick, who has 36 years
of diving experience, said the
single bottle of air tank he uses
provides a diver w ith about 30
minutes of air at a shallow
depth. "The deeper you go. the
less time you have — quantity
simply decreases significantly
at deeper depths." he said.
Being a good swimmer is
not the only, qualification
search and rescue diver must
have. Creek County Sheriff's
divers must continually be cer-
tified.
On Friday, Hendrick said
he had already made v isits to
both lakes and campgrounds
"They are full. It is going to he
a busy weekend."
He urges anyone who is
going near the water to be
extremely careful.
“A kid can drown in 30 sec-
onds." he said. "Drowning is
the silent death.”
The holiday will be a safer
and more enjoyable one for
everyone on the lake if they
remember a few haste rules, he
said.
“The main thing is to
remember that swimming
takes a lot out of your body
because you use all motor
functions — your legs, arms
and what-not." he said. "When
you're crossing ravines, what
looks like a go^ )vay(is a.long (
