London 2012 on schedule despite budget cuts
LONDON (AP) - London 2012 Olympic organizers say
they have met government targets by cutting $41.2 million
from the event budget while keeping the project on schedule.
The Olympic Delivery Authority has confirmed that the
overall cost of staging the games is now $142 billion.
Britain's coalition government ordered the cuts as part of its
measures to reduce the national budget deficit.
The ODA said Monday it saved about $19.8 million on con-
struction site security, $16.8 million on the broadcast and
media centers and $4.6 million on changes to the basketball
arena and velodrome.

ST ANDREWS. Scotland (AP) - With a performance that IUI>a W111 lot.t ..v-
rivaled the dominance of Tiger Woods at the home of golf 10 opponents (Appalachian State
years ago. Louis Oosthui/en led over the final 48 holes and Princeton and Weber Slate),

on Sunday.
The timing could not have been better - one week after

Course He closed with a I-under 71 for a seven-shot victory
over Lee Westwood, who was never in the game.
The only challenge came from Paul Casey, who got within
three shots after the eighth hole, then drove the green on the
par-4 ninth. Oosthui/en answered by hitting driver onto the
green and knocking in a 50-foot eagle putt to restore his cush-
ion
Three holes later. C'ascy hit into a gorse bush and made triple
bogey, while Oosthui/en holed an 18-foot birdie putt.
Casey's adventures in the gorse sent him to a 75 and a tie for
third with Rory Mcllroy (68) and Henrik Stenson (71).
