The Beggs Fire Department deployed their bulldozer and
helped knock down the fire and set up a fire line.
At one point, the fire jumped about 500 yards to the turnpike
causing visibility and traffic issues. Crews were able to quickly
extinguish those flames without incident.
“It was a hard day," Whitehouse said. "We are hoping for a
reprieve to get ready to bounce back. We re keeping an eye on
our guys.”
Whitehouse reminds the public that there is a bum ban
throughout most of the state until further notice. One way to help
prevent wild fires is for property owners to keep fence lines clear
of vegetation.
"Be careful when brush hogging and mowing, he said. “Do
not bum trash outdoors."
