‘Good Neighbor’ sought
The Sapulpa Women’s Chamber of
Commerce once again is seeking
nominations for the annual Good
Neighbor Award.
The award, which was established
in memory of the late Elizabeth
Howard, honors a person for “untiring,
dedicated service to individuals in the
community.’’The award is intended to
be a tribute to “people who help
people,” like the diligent volunteer,
the committed committee member, the
unsung heroes and the people who can
always be counted on to go an extra
mile in helping someone or someplace
a happier place to live.
It was established by former Sapul-
pans Ruth Irelan Knee and her sister,
the late Marie Irelan Armstrong, in
Miss Howard’s memory. Howard was
one of Sapulpa’s most dedicated
volunteers.
She spent numerous hours at local
nursing homes and volunteering her
time and efforts to the community.
Nominees for the award may be a
man, a woman or a couple who fulfill
the criteria of performing civic or
community services. Nominations
may be made by individuals or
organizations.
An interest-bearing account has
been established through the
Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
Additional funds, memorials and
honorariums are welcome.
For more information on the award,
contact Louise Briggs at 224-8996 or
Barbara Berry at 224-4954.
Nominations are due by April 16
and the award will be presented by
May 7.
