Creek Countians elected to office
Five students from Creek County
have recently been elected to serve as
student club officers at Oklahoma Stale
University in Okmulgee.
They are Jennifer Anderson of

Tuttle to serve
on state board
John Tuttle, a member of the Kel
lyville School Board, has been elected
by a unanimous vote to serve a two-
year term on the Board of Directors of
the Oklahoma State Schix'l Boards
Association.
Tuttle will serve OSS BA District
7, which includes the counties of
Creek, Hughes. Lincoln. Okfuskee.
Pottawatomie and Seminole
The election was held during a
meeting of OSSBA District 7 at the
Gordon Cooper AVTS on Oct. 14.
The OSSBA Board of Directors
consists of 37 directors elected from
14 OSSBA Districts and the area vo-
cational-technical boards. Each direc-
tor serves a two-year term of office.

nance expertise of skilled school
board members like John Tuttle.' said
Dr Bob Mixineyham. "l am pleased
to know that we will continue to have
the benefit of John’s expertise.
Tuttle was elected to his local
board in 1993 and was first elected to
the OSSBA Board of Directors in
1998. He serves on the OSSBA con-
ference and workshop and govern-
ment relations committees.
In 1998. he was elected to the
OSSBA All-State School Board, an
honorary board consisting of five out-
standing school board members for
that year.

Miller to perform holiday concert
Amity Miller of Sapulpa will be
performing in the Sterling College
Christmas concert on at 8 pm Dec.
10 in the Sterling United Methodist
Church.
Miller is a junior at Sterling Col-
lege and in involved in Sterling Lass-
es. a women's singing group. She is
the daughter of John and Anita Sutrick
of Sapulpa.
The concert is open to the public
and no admission will be charged.
Four Creek Countians to graduate
OKMULGEE— Four Creek Co-
untians are among 103 students sche-
duled to graduate Dec. 14 dunng Ok-
lahoma State University-Okmulgee's
fall commencement exercises.
They are John Ballinger of Sapul-
pa, Clifton Fullbnght of Bristow and
Herbert Wefer of Mounds.
Degrees will be presented by Dr.
Robert E. Klabenes. president of OSU-
Okmulgee. He will be assisted by Dr
Larry Williams, executive vice pro-
vost. Each instructional department
will host an open house following the
evening's ceremony.

service management-culinary arts;
Wefer in design drafting technology;
and Ballinger in air conditioning and
refrigeration technology.

KELLYVILLE— Officers have
been elected for Kellyville’s 4-H group.
They are Racheal Holder, presi-
dent; Kirsti Radford, vice president.
Nicole Bennett, secretary; Candice
Wood, reporter; Heather Chenoweth.

leader.
The group also learned the 4-H
pledge and what each H stands for.
The 4-H group has planted trees
and shrubs to make the front side of
the school look even better. The was
part of a community service project.
In addition, the group traveled to
the Holcomb home to learn how to
judge the livestock. The cattle grading
and livestock teams competed at the
Bristow’s Mid America Stockyards
and the Tulsa State Fair.
Vicky Webb is the groups organi-
zational leader.

Tom Trigalet has announced that Sar-
ah Beth Taylor has been named a
commended student in the year 2000
National Merit Scholarship Program.
A letter of Commendation from the
school and National Merit Scholar-
ship Corp., which conducts the pro-
gram, will be presented to the senior.
Some 34,(XX) commended students
throughout the nation are being recog-
nized for their exceptional academic
promise. Although they will not con-
tinue in the competition for Merit
Scholarship awards to be offered next
spring, commended students placed
among the top 5 percent of more than
one million students who entered the
year 2(XX) Merit Program by taking
the 1998 Preliminary SAT/National
Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
“These scholastically talented
youth represent a valuable resource to
our nation, and it is important to pub-
licly recognize their attainments and
to credit schools for the important part
they play in their development.," said
