Anyway. I can t fall asleep while the TV is on. and Ron
refuses to turn it off at 11
How can this problem be solved'’ Don't suggest earplugs
because I've ured them, and thev bother mv ears
CRABBY
DEAR CRABBY: You hase two choices Separate
room-, or a 50-50 compromise (Turn the TV off at 11 every
OTHER night | But remember, although a compromise
makes a good umbrella, it's a poor roof
DEAR ABBY I work for a large corporation and for the
last few weeks, my boss has been acting very secretive 1
walked into his office yesterday, and he quickly slammed
his desk draw er shut Then I noticed smoke coming out of
the drawer, but I didn't say anything
He supposedly stopped smoking three months ago. but 1
know he sat it again because I've seen him in the hall with
a cigarette in his hand He tried to hide it. but I'm sure he

knows that I saw him
I'm afraid he might try to ditch another burning
cigarette in his desk drawer, forget about it and burn up
the building.
Don't you think he s acting very immature for a
55-vear-old executive?
Should I write him an anonymous note and ask him who
he thinks he s fooling?
ON TO HIM
DEAR ON: No. Anonymous notes are also immature.
But do tell him that in the interest of safety for others, he
*hould refrain from placing lighted cigarettes in the
drawer.
DEAR ABBY Is marriage contagious"’ It seems to be an
epidemic around here I'm 21. male and single, and one by
one. all my friends are getting married
My first love went away to college, and during the first
quarter, she fell in love with a theology major, and they
decided to get married Now she's pregnant, and 1 don't
know whether to cuss or pray
Another old girlfriend is soon to marry the drummer of a
rock group Cither good friends, male and female, are
headed in that direction.
Why would anyone w ant to end the fun of being young
and footloose by getting hitched so soon? All of them are
under 21 Is marriage a contagious disease1 I hope not
SINGLE IN SEATTLE
DEAR SINGLE: Marriage in a sense ia "contagious” —
like divorca. shu king up. or grow ing a bread; some people
get the courage to do it because their friends have made
the move.
But you're safe Anyone who suspects that marriage is a
"disease" is probably immune.
Everyone has a problem. W hat's yours” For a personal

today faces the chore of
signing his name 15.118 times
in validating a $76 million

issue
An aide in his Oklahoma
City office explained,
however. Nigh wouldn't have
to write his name that many
tunes Nigh planned to use a

that operates 18 pens at one
time.
The state recently sold $76
million in refunding bonds to
pay off a 1968 bond issue that
had been sold at a higher
interest rate The new bonds
will pay 4 4 per cent interest
and save the state $3 8
