“The Watchman's Stone" by
Rons Randall
This is the 2nd novel for the
author, set in the Scottish
Highlands. The title of the book
is taken from the
Clachnaharry, or "wat-
chman’s stone", a hilltop perch
which had been used for
centuries as a lookout against
marauders approaching
Iverness
The main character,
Elizabeth, or Ealasaid,
Mac Arthur, heiress to the
prosperous Inverness cloth
mills, is as strong minded and
independent as her father.

has inherited the love for the
business of the mills, while her
sister, Sheens, is more in-
terested in clothes and parties
Elizabeth finally falls in love
with and marries Calum
Huntly, a widower and owner
of the estate of Faille. Calum

died in childbirth.
Elizabeth is extremely
happy in the beginning with her
own hone, while still finding
time to help her father at the
mills. Then, a series of
terrifying events happen the
accidental death of her father.

attempts on her life, and

watching T\ as something less than an intellectual pursuit
they re reluctant to admit that they're constant viewers

I am married to a stubborn, hot tempered man w ho has a
terrible foot odor His feet perspire, and he won't change his
shoes and socks or bathe his feet when he comes home He

he takes them off and leaves them in the bedroom This
smells up the whole bedroom like you wouldn t believe It
sure repels me from any romantic ideas I might have
I have bought him foot deodorant and anti fungicide
sprays, which he used a few times reluctantly, but it didn t
help much
I can t sleep anywhere else because I have a bad back and
have to sleep on an extra firm mattress that is in the
bedroom we share What do I do now7

announced presentation of a
$25 award to the club by the
Oklahoma State Federation of
Women's Clubs lliakatria was
rated an honor roll club of the
year among clubs with under
25 members
Mrs Henry also announced
Oct. 24 and 25 as dates for the
district convention of federated
clubs to be held in Kanawa, and
several members made plans
to attend. The club yearbooks,
in the red, white and blue
bicentennial theme, were
distributed.

nesday evening honoring their
daughter, Mrs. Jim Scott of
Tulsa She was promoted to

Dallas.
A "This Is Your life" sur-
prise program for her was
presented, with the first voice
heard that of her manager.
