THE STEPS OF LENT
Between Ash Wednesday and Faster Sunday there arc forty days’ No. that's not quite right.
Between Ash Wednesday and taster Sunday there are forty weekdays—and six Sundays. Traditionally the
weekdays were the l enten fast, the Sundays were festivals of Christian worship
II your laith has taught you to observe Lent: by foregoing pleasures or adding new religious experiences or
both those Six Sundays are occasions for taking inventory of your spiritual progress.
If yours is a religious background that does not emphasize l ent, those Six Sundays are still milestones on the
way to the great ( hristian celebration of Christ's Resurrection—taster!
And if. perchance, you have neser given much attention to spiritual matters, those Six Sundays (and the
thoughtful days between i are an invitation from your Lord .. to walk with Him the path He walked for You.

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
The gospel is the good news'' from God. and is found
within the pages of the laspired Word of God According to
the apostle Paul, the gospel consists of three basic facts, the
death, burial and resurrection of Christ. I Corinthians 15: 1-4
Io remove any of these facts from the message is to destroy
the only hope that man has to be redeemed.
To teach and preach the gospel is to proclaim the Bible
message, and anything other than this is not IV gospel of
Christ Jesus told His followers to "go into all the world, and
(reach the gospel to every creature He that beheveth and is
baptized shall be saved, but he that beheveth not shall be
damned ” Mark 16: 15-16
