DUMP CAKE
1 caa uf cherry pie filliac mis
1 No. 2 can crushed pineapple
1 yellow cake mix (pkg)
Almost 2 sticks of oleo, use
your own judgement. Grease
10 s IS pan, spread pineapple
in pan, then cherry pie mix.
Sprinkle cake mix on top of
cherries. Cat oleo into small
cubes aad cower top of cake
mix then sprinkle nuts on top
of oleo.
Bake at 350 degrees for about
1 hour or until top is golden
brown.
CHERRY CRUNCH
1 No. 2 can cherry pie filling
1- 14 ot. package coffee nut
muffin mix
'A cup melted butter or oleo
350 degree oven.
Pour pie filling into bottom of
greased 8x8x2 pan. Sprinkle
dry muffin mix over pie filling.
Pour melted butter in a thin
stream evenly over the muffin
mix. Bake 40 to 45 minutes
or till top is golden brown.
Serves six.
DATE-NUT COOKIES
Suggested For
Overseas Mailing
12 saltlne crackers, crushed
12 dates, chopped
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. sugar
11. vanilla
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Combine crackers, dates, outs
and sugar. Sprinkle vanilla over
mixture. Fold In egg whites.
Pour Into well buttered 8 or
9 inch square pan. Bake at
250 degrees for 35 minutes.
Yield: 8 squares.
EASY TWO-BOWL
POUND CAKE
(Suitable For Overseas Mailing)
2 c. sifted cake flour
‘4 c. butter or margarine
'4 c. shortening
1 e. (about 5) eggs
l!4c. sugar
11. double-acting baking powder
Cream butter and shortening
with flour. In a separate bowl,
beat eggs, sugar and baking
powder until foamy. Combine
mixtures and beat with elect-
ric mixer about 3 minutes or
until very light. Spoon Into
tube pan. Bake at 325 de-
grees about 1 hour and 15
minutes. This cake can be
baked in a 2 lob. coffee can.
This could also serve as the
container for mailing the cake.
FUDGE CANDY
(Suitable For Overseas Mailing)
4’4 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
2 T. (or more) butter
1 tall can evaporated milk
12 oz. German sweet chocolate
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
chips
1 pt. marshmallow cream
2 c. nuts.
Combine sugar, salt, butter and
milk; boil together tor 6 min-
utes. Combine remaining in-
gredients in a large bowl. Add
boiling syrup and beat until cho-
colate is melted and mixture
is smooth. Pour into buttered
pan; let stand a few hours be-
fore cutting. Candy will keep
in freezer for a long period.
PEANUT BRITTLE
(Suggested For Overseas Mail-
ing)
2 c. Peanuts
1 c. sugar
-2 c. white corn syrup
1” sq. piece of pariffin wax
1 t. baking soda
Cook all ingredients except soda
over low heat until nuts turn
brown. Remove from heat and
add soda. Stirquickly and spread
on buttered baking sheet. Break
into pieces when cold. Yield:
1'; lbs. candy.
VIENNA SAUSAGE IN
ACORN SQUASH
2 cans (4 ounces each) Vienna-
style sausage
3 acorn squash
2 cups grated apple
3 tablespoons sugar
’4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter or mar-
garine
Cut acorn squash into halves
lengthwise and remove seeds.
Dot with butter or margarine.
Cover with foil and bake 30
minutes in a moderate oven (350
degrees). Place 2 to 3 sau-
sages on each squash half and
continue baking 20 to 30 minutes
or until squash is done and sau-
sage is browner!. 6 servings.
