Froui "The Western Contractor.'
Gatbrie. The office the territo-
rial secretary for 199" will show a 40-
per-cent increase over 1904 in the num-
ber of charter* issuer* to corporation*.
The total fees will amount to about
$13,(XK). The number of charters is-
sued this year will be about on9
thousand, as against six hundred in
1904.
El Reno.—An effort is I eing made to
locate the Rock Island machine shops
in this city.
Anadarko.—The Anadarko Ice com-
pany has practically completed their
arrangement.- to put in a 84,000 laundry
at thin place. It will be run in con-
nection with the ice plant.
Anadarko.—The city is considering
tfce advisability of rotinc S-'.OOO addi-
tional bonds for the extension of the
electric light service.
Enid.-Then-is a movement among
local capitalists to constrict another
electric light system.
Davenport. The Ridley Telephone
company of Davenport was incorpor-
ated with ?5,000 capital. R. C. Ridley
interested.
Oklahoma City The city council in-
structed City Eoffineer Hurke to pro-
ceed with the preliminaries regarding
the new water plant to be erected, for
which I450,00«i in bonds wa> voted re-
cently. Tbe engineer will eecure a
testing plant to test all cement to be
used in the construction of the plant,
and some material will be purcba.-ed
in a very short time. The plant will be
installed as soon as possible.
Shawnee.—Considerable street pav-
ing to b*' done at once.
Enid.- This city will make an effort
to land the Odd Fellows orphan hi me
which is to be erected at some point in
this territory.

about to erect a library and rest house

tendent of the Arkansas City-Sbawnee
division, announced that the plan- and
specification4 for the structure were
nearly complete and that actual work
upon it would begin in the immediate
future. The building, which will be of

in a sixty-ton mill.
Oklahoma City.—The .school board
has und?r advisement the building of
an annex to the .Jefferson school in the
northern part of the city. The annex
will be as large as the present building
and will cost about $10,000.
Arapaho.—The trustees of the M. E.
Church ure contemplating a large ad-
dition to their church.
Oklahoma City.—M C. Smythe will
build a J-story frame residence at H;h
and Hrusha.
Oklahoma City.—C. C. Russell has
let the contract for the construction of
two flats on California street.

Friday night several Hobartites
drove out to Mount Zion to hear the
play, "Captain Racket,*' which was put
on by borne talent. The attendance
was good and the play well rendered.
Those taking part in the play were:
Messrs. R. R. Fitzgerald, Frank Jones,
Steve Lee, Frank Fitzgerald. Misses
Ondler and Burford and Mrs. Jones.
Some of those who attended from
Hobart were: Misses Erwin, Brown,
Jaoiuart, Burke, Rhea, Clark, Vander
grift, Stewart, Knowles, Moora and Si-
ples; and Messrs. Pish, 8ali«bury,
Hughes, Harris, Stewart, Kutch, Si
Haydon and Bob Fitzgerald.
All were delighted with the play and
say those in charge of arrangements
are deserving of praise for the enter-
tainment.
A SMALL FIRE.
Saturday evening about 7 o clock fire
broke out near the Brock Hotel,' in
la small building and was in a
I fair way of being destroyed
j when it was discovered. The
I alarm wm turned in to the fire depart
| ment promptly, and within five min-
j utes after the discovery the Fire Chief
had a nczzle turned on tbe Haines,
I which were extinguished before
I much dattiag? was done.

I was no insurance.
The prompt response of the tire de-
partment shows that we are ready to do
battle with the devouring element
' whenever it makes its appearance.
