OFFICIAL RECORD ONLY
RECORD THAT COUNTS.
There is just one safe way to “check up’’ on a Senator
or Congressman—examine the Congressional Record.
The Record Shows
That Senator Gore
Voted for every single bill designed to aid the Soldiers
and Sailors during the World War.
That he supported every one of the appropriation bills
necessary to the winning of the war.
A matter of patriotism was involved in every one of
these measures and in every instance Senator Gore voted
for his country.
It is true that Senator Gore voted against the draft
law but so did Champ Clark and many other patriots who
believed the volunteer system best. No question of patriot-
ism but only of policy was involved in the draft legislation.
Australia, by an overwhelming majority, twice defeated the
draft even the soldiers at the front voting against it. Great
Britain did not resort to conscription until none but slackers
were left Senator Gore asked for a National Referendum
on this issue. It was denied.
Why does Senator Gore’s opponent refuse to accept
Senator Gore’s challenge to meet him in a joint debate and
discuss their respective war records? Do you believe it is
either manly or fair for Senator Gore’s opponent to thunder
charges through his Press Bureau yet refuse personally to
prefer these charges in Senator Gore’s presence on the pub-
lic platform?
