should withhold all critlciam.

A movement has been set on foot to
make Edwin O. Stannard, of St,
Louis, President McKlnley's running
matein the coming presidential cam-
paign. Tbe movement from a party
standpoint is an excellent one. The
republican administration haa stood
lor business protection and common
sense business rules in the manage-
ment of tbe nation's affairs. Mr.
Stannard represents the business in-
terests of the nation being the own
er and operator of large flour mills,
and greatly interested in commercial
expansion Mr. Stannard has had
political experienc;, having repre-
sented one of, the St, Louis districts in
congrei*. He voluntarily gave up
politics for a business life in which he
haa acheived marked success.
Oklahoma has more than a general
interest in the nomination of Mr.
Stannard. He is a near neighbor, ia
A year ago Oklahoma City's side-
walks were in a deplorable condition.
Today they are the best in the terri-
tory, and more than ninety per cent
are in first-class condition.
PEOM.E often complain of the unre
liability of the war news published.
The trouble lies with the careless
reader The rumors'are given
such as they should be. The people
demand the rumors as well *s the
verified news, and this is where they
show good judgement for without
them tbe story of a war would be but
imperfectly understood.

IT was not to the credit of Kansas
that the Meeks brothers were hanged
by a mob. There was no justification
•n tbe excuse that the courts proved
incompetent t3 convict criminals, for
the victims of the mob's vengeance
had already been convicted. Ttae
perpetrators of the vilianous acts
should be tried for murder as the
Metks brothers were.

Tkk Commissioner of the General
l.and office has been imposed upon
most outrageously by the men who
desire to retain the famous Kiowa anu
Comanche country. The commission-
er sent a sptcial agent out to the res-
ervation to ascertain its value as m
agricultural country. The agent fell
in with cattlemen and when be re-
turned to Washington he was loaded
down with affidavits, all of which de-
clared that the country was unfit for
agricultural purposes. Fortunately I
the committees who are seeking to
open the reservations to settlers can
furnish evidence to refute the special
agents affidavits, which can not be
questioned. In the early days the
commanders of exploring parties sent
out by the secretary of war were in
the habit of giving, in addition to the
army movements, a description of the
country. The army records teem with
descriptions of the Kiowa and Coin-
ruanche country, and in every case
they are most flattering. No one will
greatly interested in our most valu-1 ,ccuse Marcy or McClellan of trying

A SURE MEDICINE.
Thf democratic leaders of the east
are very careful to accord Mr. Bryan
no official recognition. The leaders
of Maryland democracy did not at-
tend the speech made by Bryan in
Baltimore. Belmont gave a dinner
in honor of Bryan and desired to have
it take on something of tbe form of
official recognition, and here a letter
signed by a number of the party
leaders, was sent to Mr. Keller, presi-
dent of tbe club, protesting against
any official recognition.

Una mistake to take any and every kind of medicine when you are
lick. There is dinger in it.' Most of the so-called cures for "female
weakness" do nothing more than deaden the pain temporarily, and when
the effect wears away the patient is weaker and sicker than before. It is
never w ise to take chances. You have only one life, and that is dear and
precious. If you have any pain, ache, disorder or weakness in th; femi-

away with morning sickness during the early stages of pregnancy, and
