Democratic yaims
The Democrats claim that the
working man of the country in
general and the organized labor
vote in particular will be over-
whelmingly for Wilson. This
with the regular party vote will
insure the election of Mr. Wil
son. They also state that while
they will loose some of the Ger
man-American votes yet they
make the claim that for eacli of
such votes they will gain double
the amount in regular Ilepubli
can voters, those who are
,, American first’ and Republi-
can afterward. The Democrats
are also giving oui a little table
in which they figure out a sweep
ing Democratic victory this fall
J and yet strange to tay they base
their figures on the votes brought
out in the Republican victory in
Maine on September l1th.
The Democratic leaders claim
that on this basis, conceding to
Mr. Hughes a vote equal to that
received by Roosevelt in 1912
which was 4,108,u04 and lalt
which was, 3,439,529 Mr. Hughs
will receive 7,006,000 votes, and
increasing Mr. Wilsons vote
0,303,000 of 1912 by 1-3, Wilson
would leceive 8,401,000 and
carry the following slates by the
following popular votes:
