Oklahoma county anil city, and that
i8 in getting statistics in every con-

to a disadvantage. Wo received
today the American newspaper an-
nual published by N. W. Ayer & Son
of Philadelphia, in which they give
the population of Logan county 20,-
000 while that of Oklahoma county
is given Jit 11,000, Guthrie is placed
at 7,500 while Oklahoma City is put
at 4,500. The same is true of all
statistics that have been furnished.
It is doing tbis city great injustice,
as those statistics are taken as cor-
rect throughout thc east. It is nee

Thk foreign policy of the present

no dignity iu it, no firmness, no
self-respect. As often as iuterualionjl
controversies have occurred, there
has been a practical surrender on our
part, with a corresponding suggestion
of insufficient courage- It has come
to ba understood that we are so much

to puichasc it even at the price of
discredit; and that is not a good rep

people are now in favor of u policy
that thus contradicts our previous
course in this important relation.
They are opposed to the idea that we
must play n subordinate or an in-

world. It is their desiro that the
power aad standing of thc llniud U|'''i
States shall lie kept plainly in view,
and that no Op wtunity shall le

our rights are to be protected at all
