An Oklahoma* County Williams
Tor Governor Club was organis-
ed at Oklahoma City Saturday
afternoon, and- attended by a
large number of representative
democrats- from all over the
county. The editor was “invit-
ed'" to attend,, but important
busines at McLoud, prevented
our being present, and we regret
it, too. However, the boys have
our permission to count us as a

JKuie brides willwear the engage-
znent ring this year on their left
ankle, says a Texas paper. How
sad!. There is perhaps, no-great-
er joy beneath* the canopy of
heaven, than when the lover pla-
ces, the ring on* his sweetheart's
Anger;, slips his arm gently
around her, looks down into her
sunny eyes; and seals the bargain
for a life time voyage on the sea
of matrimony. At least that it
the way it looks-to-us—since we
have never indulged in such* cer-
emonies*. But we fait to* see
where there could be any degree
of sentimentalexaltation is kneel-
ing down and circling yoursweet-
beart’s silken extremity with a
hoop.

Dick T. Morgan has announced
:his candidacy for re-election to
congress from, the Eighth dis-
trict. Diek will probably be re-
elected alright, but there are a
lot of republicans here that
won't know how to vote if they
don't see Dick Morgan's name
on the ballot.

The past few day the Oklaho-
ma City Times has printed an
editorial headed “How About
Riley's* Case?" referring to Ben
Riley, secretary of the state e-
leetion board. The last legisl-
ature passed a law providing
that the secretary of the senate
.shall act as secretary of the e-
lectien board. This bill, of
course, left Mr. Riley without
a job, but the truth of the mat-
ter is, the legislature ai the
time they passed this bill, had
been ealled into special session
by the governor, and had no
authority to legislate the gover-
nor’s appointees out of office.
Riley is holding the office on
those grounds, and it is not like-
ly thaA the supreme court will
decide the case against him. The
Times knows it too, but it must
have something to hollow about-
A Letter From Bro. McCowa.
The News has received the following
iletfcer from Rev. A. G*. McCowny. wh®
is holding a revival meeting at Fauls
Valley:
“I am in the limelight here, as the
Russellitea have declared war on me..
I’ll send you a paper. This is a Russell
stronghold. Seventeen have been add-
ed to-date, fifteen by confession, and
two came from the M. E. church. We
raised an old. chiwch. debt., here last
week, and pulled divisions together and.
heading straight for victory. Big
crowds, and conversions at every ser
vice."
Rev. McCown.has many friends her--* I
at Harrah. who. will be glad to learn !
thatheia having such good success with |
his gospel work.
