New York.—William Patterson
deeded to his eons in 1852 a few acres
of Newark, N. J., land where Bloom-
field avenue nnd Parker street are
now.- The ancient instrument, on file
in the county clerk’s office, was dis-
covered by Gifford A Miller, attorneys,
who were searching a title. Old Mr.
Patterson had sold hia land to bis
boys, William D. and Samuel, but
there was a carious string to the same.
“If at nay time the grantor shall
bn born on earth again,” reads the
deed, “the within described parcel of
land shall revert to him. In the event
that-he ia not born-again or that the
second coming of Cihrlat ia delayed
more than SOS years, then the said
William D. nnd Samuel Patterson
shall be possessed of the property,”
etc.
Mr. Gifford of the law firm said he
did not think the apparent cloud on
the title was serious. He hns advised
hie, client thnt he can bay the prop-
erty nnd that the risk of the original
owner ever claiming It la remote.
