The people of our town enjoy-
ed a treat, Monday evening in the
form of a lecture on Self Culture
by James Welling Sturgis A. M.
professor of Latin in the Universi
ty of Oklahoma. The professor
showed himself to be familiar with
Ancient history and discussed the
subject first from an historical
standpoint, showing that the cul-
ture of nations has always been in
three parts—Physical, Menial and
Moral; he then showed that indi-
vidual culture must follow the
some process His discription of
(Self Culture was beautiful show-
ing that in the garden of self there
are many dowers to be cultivated
such as-Faith and Courage, Love
Friendship and Courtesy, Indus-
try and Contentment The com-
mittee was well pleased with the
lecture and felt that everyone who
heard it were benefited.
This lecture was the first of a
series of sixtobo given during the
winter. The next of the series will
be delivered by A. Grant Evans,
president of the university. The
Bridge of History, an argument
for Christianity from its own his
torv, is the theme upon which he
will speak.
