THERE
A CROSS the ghastly waste of No-Man’s-Land—through the inky black and death-like silence*of the night comes the faint,
hardlv audible cry of “Help, stretcher-bearers, Help!"
OUPPOSE you were there and heard that cry-perhaps from a voice you recognized. Would you hesitate? Would you
stop for a moment to save the life of that fine young fellow?
xtPTTRFR does the Red Cross. Its workers are everywhere—from the front line trenches, risking death to tenderly care
N for the wounded, to way back “of the lines” where among many other things, it hands out hot coffee to the boys after a
hard day’s march.
