The fields around the city present
the appearance of a vast encamp-

The crowd is good Matured, the

DOSE PE-UTIFUL PALOONS
‘■What do the readers of the Hem
ocrat think uf today’s paper? Look a'
it and then look at the North Rock
Island slop over ”
The above classical (omitting the cl)
grunt is from tbs pen of the refined
and gentlemanly scribbler on the
\ Weakly Jimocrat's Daily Spasm. The
irrepressible victim of moon changes
has snorted and grunted whole tubs
full of Idiotic rot. but nothing so ri
diculous as the maudlin gibberish of
yesterday,
It’s no wonder the fireworks man
ageronly got out half as many papers
as usual, when he saw the enterprising
Bell with the Proclamation complete
The 17 readers who saw the JimocralV
Spism were worse off than the other
17 who failed to see it.
The lack of enterprise on the part ot
even such a nonentity was laughable
and really inexcusahle.
The Tin Horn editor was evidently
engaged in -ubberneckiog, watching
