her the neat sum of $158.80 and she has

seem to he about as profitable as cotton

Mrs. J. C. Shaffer and Mrs. Lamar
were pleasant callers at this office yes-
terday and left $3 to pay for the Clipper
to 3 different parties. If we had a few

I*. J. Taylor, an uncle of Mrs. J. C.
Shaffer, died at llartington, Nch., Dec,
lie broke his leg some time ago and
complications set in which finally caused
his death. He resided at the Shaffer
home for some time a few years ago and 1
made many friends here who will regret '
to hear this sad news.

Mrs. Serena J. Cline, mother of Chas.
Cline died at her home at Yale, Dec.
13 and was buried the following day.
■She w as 76 years old and had been bed
last for some time with rheumatism
which finally caused her death. Mrs.
Cline formerly lived in this vicinity and
is well known by many people here*.
