I have no letter to publish here this week, and will there-;
fore suggest a thing or two myself, this Christmas eve, 1917. j
America is today depressed with the Russian collapse and
its stern reminder that the burden of the war is upon American j
arms from now on.
I want to be excused for referring to a statement of mine;
published in the Daily Oklahoman in 1913, that that year was
the first of a seven-year period of distress, such as the world
never saw before. That this distress was not limited to war
ti.uble., but would include every conceivable calamity of which j
men could suffer.
Tnat year, 1913, also marked the beginning of the great
American epoch which will go into history as a new dispensation j
of the gospel, and become world conquering. Every epoch-mak-
ing world disaster brings with it a better religion. This and
more kstaated and published in a little book u„. ing that year, and
many of those little books were sold here in Oklahoma City.
The history of all this is found in prophecy, a gerat deal
more clearly, definitely and exactly set forth than the actual
history’ of this tragic period can be written by eye witnesses.
In fact, all prophecy reduces itself to a distinct lineal history
of the human races, written long beforehand.
Now what do we find. In 1912, November 6, the people
of the United States defeated Roosevelt, who headed a party
inspired, organized and controlled by the most powerful, cor-
rupt and closely allied money kinds of the whole world, whose
main purpose was to cripple popular government and set up 'a
“new nationalism,” as Roosevelt outlined at Ossawatomie, Kan.
Their god was Pluto, just the same as Mars had been Roman
and Woden British. Roosevelt was to America what the kaiser
is to Europe.
So that the defeat of Pluto in 1912, at the end of the year,
brought to America her national epoch, the first year of which
would begin with 1913, the inauguration of Wilson.
This now ends up the first five years of it, and I want to ask
all admirers of Teddy, worshippers of his ideal, his god, if the
conditions today do not, thus far, bear out the statements that
I made then.
Again, in another book which I wrote in 1913, and published
in 1915, I said that a new city would be built on the old site
of Babylon, that it would begin in history with the year 1917,1
and that a new industrial order of things would begin in the;
United States the same year, 1917.
Now what have we got? In January, 1917, the British
army, encamped on the old site of Babylon, broke down Bagdad*
the holy city of the Mohammedan east, and cleared that country j
of Turkish domination, and are now builuing a new Babylon.
Again, war began about that time between the United States
and Germany, and now we have what we term “Hooverism”
dominating all industrial affairs under martial law.
I do not mention these things for an “I-told-you-so” purpose,
but for the calling of attention of those who are thinking out
political affairs to the solemn, unquestionable fact that humanity
is entering a new age.
He who builds for the future must found his structure in
this new civilization—industrial fraternity, human brotherhood
and charity—not the plutarchal “greatest good to the largest
number,” but “necessary good to all who need it.”
You stand aghast at the collapse of Russia. Don’t let a like
disaster come to America by turning our government back again
into the clutches of money kings, imperial despots, who are more
mercenary and les3 pathetic toward common people than was
the late czar of Russia.
But things must be done by putting fraternal spirit into
some party effort and attracting socialistic elements from all
other parties. *
The republican party is in exact position to do this. But
will it? Or will it turn back and let the accident of fate keep the
democrats in power for twenty years, while the nation merely
stumbles along through its reconstruction period?
Why not hai-ness up with the God of Christmas and win?
