Oklahoma. Rock Island Ry. passes through center of
county north and south east and west; has 1-1 railroad
towns' 9 inland towns ;X6i school districts; 36 congress-
ional townships; 30 miles wide 48 miles'long: no bond-
ed indebtedness; Washita river passes through cer er
of county from west to east with many tributary
streams lined with good timber; about 1-4 the soil
bottom land the remainder upland prairie: ninetyfcper
cent of land suitable foi cultivation; nlmost every 160
is enclosed and has house and barns; 44 rural mail car-
rier routes and rural telephone in every neighborhood;
no farm further than 8 miles from town or postoflioe.
Caddo county is one of the best agricultural and fruit
growing counties in the state as evidence by winning
first premium at Oklahoma Stato Pair."- Also took a
number of first premiums at World's Fair. St Louis.
Under cultivation only elevn years it has made a phen-
omenal record this could not have been accomplished
without a rich soil and favoreble climate conditions
which are ideal in this county. The principal crops
aro wheat oats cotton con kafir corn milo maizo
melons canteloupes potatoes peanuts: fruit varieties:
apples peaches pears plums cherries crapes straw-
berries blackberries. Stock raising was a profitable
business here many years before the opening and is
still carried on with great success; within fifty miles
of the packing plants of Oklahoma City farmers market
their cattle hogs horses and mules at littlo cost of
transportatpon. The farmora aro intelligent Industri-
ous contented and happy labor on their farms during
the week visit tlioir neighbors and at'end church on
