prominent business men and leading Democrats who in a fow well chosen
words introduced Jndge B F Holding of Adadarko. Judge Holding after
thanking the speaker for the kindly references made to hinuelf referred
briefly to the early days when the beautiful cotton wood grow a land mark
for miles around was the only thing that marked tho spot where now stands
the thriving little city of Venien. In those days the cattle men were wont
to assure all comers that 1G0 acres of that land could not be made to sup.
port a familiy and that it was good only as a cattle range. Tno thrifty
homes on each quarter section the enormous crops that have made this
bdautiful little city possible and that the fact that up to the hour the
meeting began $22000 worth of cotton has been maikoted in Verden this
season disprove the assertion of the old timo rangers.
