rdav p. m. from a visit of sov-
ral weeks in Bedford and other
bartsoflowa. She reports a de-
lightful visit but is nevertheless
kad to bo home again and we
tiotice that our good Republican
riend F. M. no longer has that
brsaken forlorn expression ot
Thomas A. Hovenden and
Ogla L. Fredrickson both of
Caddo County wero married Nov-
17 1002 at the Congregati mal
manse by Rev. J. W. Moats.
Did you over hear anything
about boodlers and grafters last
spring? Yes you did. But they
say dont mention it now. It
makes a great deal of difierenco
with some people whoso "ox" is
being gored.
Tho Ladies Social Union of the
Presbyterian church will meec at

nesday 3 :30 p. m. All tho ladies
of tho congregation cordially in-
vited to attend.
Lot 13-block 35 was sold re-
cently to John S. Page by J. J.
Kelly. Consideration S500. As
a general thing wo all object to
dirt but Anadarko dirt seems to
bo valuable.
There was a largo audience at
McAninch Hall last night to hear
Rev. Burke on the "Prodigal
Son" leaving homo." Tonight
will bo the return of tho "Prodi-
gal Son." Don't miss tho ser-

sha formerly of this place is in

morrow when ho will go to Bin-
ger to do some missionary work.
Dr. Winton informs us that A.
E. Baldwin and wife are rejoicing
over the arrival of a little daugh-
ter who took up her abode at
their homo last night Nov. 17
1002.
J. G. Groomer and S.J. Harris
two of Laverty's prominent citi-
zens and Democrats were in the
city on business today. They
left two silver dollars on our desk
for tho Democrat. Wo aro glad
the people appreciate our efforts
in putting out a good paper in
Caddo County.
Tho School Board met in reg-
ular session last evening. The
Committee on Buildings was in-
structed to secure rooms for
Eighth Grade and High School.
An adjournment was made until
Thursday evening to approve
the bond of contractor for new
school buildings and to consider
the resignation of Mr. Bugg as
Clerk of tho School Board.
Quite a number of arrests were
made yesterday on gambling
charges and we aro sorry to say
that among them was tho jolly
colored barber who whatever
his faults may be was not
ashamed of his rightful name.
We sincerely hope ho will not be
classed with the same sot of law
breakers again.
We desire to call the attention
of our readers to the ad in today's
issue of tho Gem Photo Gallery
Mrs. T. S. Colwell propiiotress.
Tho work turned out by this gal-
lery is reported to bo first class
in every respect and prices reasonable.
Judging by tho number of
"saw bucks" on last week's issue
of the Choctaw Ledger published
at Sterett that paper is not get-
ting tho Register. Wo hasten to
comply with its hint to exchange.
Purcell Register.
This must be a sort of an epi-
demic as the Democrat received
several papers today which wero
decorated in the same manner
and their names went on our ex-
change list instanter.
In tho report of the doings of
the District Court now in session
at Oklahoma City ihe Oklahoman
states that Judgo Burton wore a
very flashy red necktie and that
only three out of the fifty law-
yers present part their hair in
the middle. These aro very es-
sential points and we hope all
other papers will follow suit and
keep us posted in regard to the
colors of the neckties worn by the
judges and the style of dressing
the hair most favored by tho lawyers.
Acting Mayor Bradford cert-
ainly has the courage of his con-
victions. We understand that
this offico was entirely unsought
by him but ho seems inclined to
beliovo that if tho law says any-
thing should bo stopped that it
should bo done. He informs us
that he has no political aspir-
ations but expects to measuro
dry goods for a living.
