was rumoied that we had left town
but that the rumor could not be
uonlirmed Tho statement was true

he said it could not be continued
he lied and lied purposely. What
lie sought to intimate was that we
had inn away beotuse the little man
mayor had sued us tor 10000
damages. We had told him just
two days before the mayor sued us
that we intended going home next
day and put a local in his paper
to that effect. During our absence
lie wrote another article in which ho
said that if we got funny (or words
to that effect) he would expose our
El Heno recoid. What he meant
