CHIEF KESSLER INJURED
OKLAHOMA CITY'S FAMOUS FIRE.
CHIEF SUFFERS SEVERE IN-
JURIES ON WAY TO FIRE.
Oklahoma C!ty Okla.. Dec. 22.
Hurled headforemost to the pavement
when an automobile crashed into his
rig ag he was speeding to answer an
alarm. Fire Chief Mark Kessler mi-
raculously escaped death but sustain-
oi serious injuries at Fourth and
Harvey streets at 6:20 o'clock last
evening. Kesler's right arm was bro-
ken In t'o places between the wrist
and elbow his right ankle severely
sprained ami his body and faco pain-
fully bruised. A. G. Myers assistant
fire chief who was driving for Kes-
ler also was thrown from the buggy
but was practically uninjured. Ln A.
Chapman an employe of the King-
mart Implement company was driving
the automobile. He resides at 221
East Ninth street.
Speeding up north Harvey st.ect
In answering an alarm from the res-

inson where a flue was burning out
Kealer and Myers were crossing West
Fourth street at a rapid pace when
the automobile going west smashed
their rig amldship. Moth Kesler and
Myers were sent sprawling and the

a total wreck. The horse was only
slightly hurt. The automobile was not

William E. Harper of the Street &
Harper Undertaking company chanc-
ed to be near on hts way home. He
summoned an ambulance and Chief
Kesler was taken to St. Anthony's
