The Republican caucuses which havo
been hold today as a result of the gov
Ternor's message havo been dt astrons
to tho clerks. It was deckled that all
of the committee clerks in both of the
houses with tho exception of two
shall bo immediately discharged as
well BS6ome other clerks not yet de-
cided upon. Tho committee clerks
thrown out by this decision are as fol-

establish a territorial board of em-
balming to provide for the better pro-
tection of life and health to prevent
tho spread of contagious diseases aud
to regulate tho practice of embalming
and the care and disposition of the
dssd was next on the calendar It
was read a third time and passed by a
vote of 1G too.
An adjournment was taken at 4
o'clock after the announcement of a
Republican caucus.

lost from dipping were referred to tho
appropriations committee.
A petition of fifty farmers in Lowe
township Noble county was present
od by Mr. Doyle asking that no law
be passed abolishing the office of pub-
lie weigher.
Council bill 10 by Wmkler defining
and limiting the powers of the territo-
rial "board of equalization caiuo up on
third reading and passage.
Mr. Doyle stated that be had not
been present when the bill w-s dis-
cussed and that upon looking it over
he believed it would leave the levy
open to the discretion of the bo rd re
pealing the law which now liml h the
levy to 4 3 mills for territorial pur-
poses. The bill was Una ly remanded to the
judiciary committee and made a special
order for tomorrow mornintr.

haps he will do another if we com-
mend him.

of tho Cimarron 50 miles uortnwust
was in town 'oday and reported a sin-
gular phenomenon. About two weeks
ao ho began digging a veil rn his
place and last Monday thu diggers
struck hard r.ck bottom at tho depth
of 20 feet.

and a man descended to tho bottom
and began to pick Into it - Uh a knife
blade when a swift current of air
broke through the little ole be had
made emitting a deafening whistle.
Tho air was full of sulphur gas and
tho man in the well lost no time in
ordering bis two companions on the
surface to hoist away. lie was almost
strangled when he reached the surface
Tho sulphur became so strong at the
top of the well that all bands re-
treated. The strangest thing ab ut this l-
tbat the well Is whist Ingyet aud it is
almost deafening close by Theuiigh-
bors for miles around have ben at
tracted to the whistling wet'. Hall
says he will let the thing whittle as
long as he and the neighbo hood c n
stand it hoping that it exhaust itself

If the whistle does not soon blow out
