lumbermen naval stores men and oth-

Burbrldge'a theatre when the gather-
ing was callod to ordor by President
Covington. The oponing session was
devoted largely to formalities which
included addresses of welcome by
Mayor Fletcher and others.
The convention will continue Its
sessions through tomorrow. Tho prin-
cipal business is to consider and act
upon tho recommendations prepared
by tho executive committee. Among
othqr things tho committoe rocom-
monds that tho operators make the
box cut for the next season tho same
as was cut during tho past season. it
is also recommend-''! that tho scale
of prices and nil minor dotalls bo left
unconsidered for another year thus
allowing each operator to act Inde-
pendently In those matters. The re-
port of President Covington Bhows
that tho operators saved $6 a barrel
as n result of the operations this
year through tho regulations adopted
by tho association.
