Deafness Cannot be Cured
by local application as they cannot
reach the diseased portion of the ear.
There is only one way to cure deafness
and that is by constitutional remedies.
Deafness is caused by an inflamed con-
dition of the mucous lining of the
eustachian tube. When this tube is
inflamed you have a rumbling sound
or imperfect hearing and when it is
entirely closed deafness is the result
and unless the inflammation can be
t'iken out and ihK tube restored to its
normal condition hearing will bedc-
btroyed forever; nine cases out of ten
are caused by catarrh which Is noth-
ing but an inflamed condition of the
mucous surfaces.
We will give one hundred dollars for
any case of deafness (caused by catar-
rh) that cannot be cured by Hall's
Catarrh Cure. Send for circulars;

Trouble at a Colored Dance.
Tom Adair was shot in the mouth
by Sylvester Chillis Friday night while
a dance was in progress at Micks' hall !
on the cast side. The trouble we !
understand arose over the smiles of a 1
dusky damsel. Adair was shot
through the car and mouth and it is
said caught the bullet in his hand.
Sylvester was promptly arrested and
placed In the holdover to await re-
sults aud an investigation by the
commissioners court. The wounded
man Is not seriously hurt and the
presence of mind displayed in catch-
ing the leaden missile is commend-
able and might be the means of proof
that he had really been shot.

The Delaware Scheme.
The Delawarcs under the leadership
of Dick Adams count upon winning
their suit against the Cherokees anil
getting the 157000 acres of land sot
aside without doubt. The Delawarcs
have abandoned the Fort Gibson
scheme and arc now figuring on hav-
ing the land set off to them in the
northwest portion of the Cherokee
nation. The sentiment in favor of
going to Mexico is being carefully
nursed by a few intelligent Delawarcs
who probably expect to buy out those
foolish enough to sell. This is an
auspicious time for schemes and
schcmeis.
Cattle Business.
Dr. E. I'.. Krayscr returned Saturday
morning from St. Louis where lie sold
a car of the "tailings" of his herd
averaging MK pounds at S3.G0. He
has in this nation only about 800 cat-
tle left 200 of which are stackers.
Me has shipped 5C0 head this year-
enough to leave him "ou easy screct'"
and has 2S00 left. The doctor takes
somewhat of a pessimistic view of the
cattle business reasoning that the
banks have too large an interest in
too many herds and in case of small
losses will begin to close out their
customers.
Petit Larceny.
Some parties have been making
themselves very disagreeable to the
residents of the Grove Point school or
Ballew neighborhood. Sunday night
of last week they stole some chickens
and a quantity of syrup and going to
the school house made candy mussing
up the house aud cooked the chickens.
By the time the judge or the commis-
sioner gets a "whack" at the perpetra-
tors of this mischief they will hare no
taste for chickens and candy for some
time. There has been a great many
petty thefts" committed in the same
section of late.
The Town Trade.
A few years ago the merchaulsof
Vinita depended to a very large ex-
tent upon the trade from outside the
town limit. The trade of the town
was no considerable portion of the
business that came to A'Inita. Things
have changed. Three thousand or
upwards of people in A'Inita are to be
fed and clothed and the grocery busi-
ness especially of the town fai ex-
ceeds that from the country.
Did Not Appeal.
The John H. Tanner larceny
Case in which fanner was convict-
ed and sentenced to five years in
the penitentiary at Ft. Leaven-
worth was not appealed. Accord
ing to a ruling ol the court of ap-
peals bond is not allowed alter
conviction on appel. So Tanner
preferred to go at once to the peni-
tentiary and commence serving
out his sentence to lying in jail
waiting lor action on the appeal.
Tho crowds around the court
house are growing very much
smaller as
the docket is being
cleared as fast as tbe days go by.
A great many people have attend-
ed the present term of court in Vi-
nita. People from all over tbe
Indian Territory and irom tbe
states have been in attendance
here and a great number of them
have been compelled to remain
from week to week. The bulk of
tbe criminal business for this term
i is finished and a large share of it
! has gone over till the next term
