PROSPECTS BRIGHT FOR WHEAT CROP.
"If Oklahoma fails to break the rec
ord with a wheat and oats crop this
year prospcots are worth considerably
less than nothing" says W. I. Drum
mond editor of the Interstate Farmer
to n representative of The World last
night. "I havo traveled more than
seven hundred miles in the Inst eight
days covering tho territory from riear
the Arkansas line out through central
and northern Oklahoma and as far as
Wichita Kansas paying especial at
tontinn to crop conditions all the time
In all that distance I failed to find n
poor tioid of wheat or oats or n poor
spot in any Hold. The stand is uni
formly the best In tho ldstory of the
country and tho condition Is all that
could be desired Tho ncreago is
onormous ; probably 30 pur cent larger
than ever before taking tho state as a
whole. If nothing hunnens to it In
the next four weeks Oklahoma will
havo produced at least forty million
dollars of now wealth from this source
alono. Tho threatened dangor from
chinch bugs in a few localities has been
checked by tho recent rains and cool
weather while the green bug scare
was nothing more than a scare. Cool
wet weather delayed tho planting of
odrn cotton and tho grain sorghums
and made ro-plantlng necessary to a
certain extent but there is plenty of
time yot for maturing these crops '
Mr. Drummond was on his way back
to Muskogee having attended a meet
ing of the board of governors of tho
Dry-Farming congress at Wichita. Ho
is still chairman nf the board and re-
ports everything pertaining to the
congress In line condition. The next
meeting will be h'.-ld in Wichita In Oc-
tobor.Tulsa World.
