enthusiastic over their work and seem

troversy vu nru limling it a little hard
to gut nil the hooka needed for school
work. Wo arc trying to got tho old
books expecting to use thorn all tho
llrst term at least if not for the full
year.
Quite u little repairing has boon
done the past week at the cahoot build-
ings. Tho outbuildings liavo been re-
paired and whllowntdu-d. Tho black-
board at both buildings have been re-
stated and new looks have bpou put on
thu graded school door. Calcimine
has been ordered for the walls of the
graded school.
Tho Superintendent's olllco hour
will be from 8 to I) u in from 12:43 to
lilo and from 3:30 to 4 p. m. Tele-
phono calls will -bo answered during
olllce hours only an classes will be in
session al all other hours.
Tho prospect are brighter for n suc-

before. The teachers solicit the eo-
operntiou and support of all tho pa-
trons of the district. They want to

tho school opened and the pupils of
tliH district gladly assembled to begin

Most of the pupils of the district
we.re on ham! and the enrollment in
all grades was a good showing fur In-
terest in tho schools.
The time was spent Monday In tho
enrollment of pupils the assignment

method' and her successful teaching
of the past year in tho Primary won
for her a hearty welcome for her re-
turn this year.

and Intermediate rooms were put in
before school opened and will bo a big
ludp in government nnd the conveni-
ence of tho pupils
All the lloors have been oiled ren-
dering them more free from dust accu-
mulations mid making tho janitor's
work more easily done
Adrian Sliuler will have charge of
the Janitor work this joar nod we
hope the school rooms will nlwajs
show that order and clpnnliness are the
watch words of thu school.
A new system of pas lights has been
placed in tho building and thu old
coal oil lights have been taken down
from the wall adding much to the ap-
pearance of the rooms.
Tho new patent shutter blinds have
been placed at the windows and nro a
great improvement over tho ordinary
shades allowing air and light to pass
in freely but oxcludingnhe direct rays
of tho sun.
KUihI and Klmer Miller nntl their
little brother from tho next district
west enrolled in the lllue. Mound
school Monday Klmer and Kthol in
the Sixth tirade and their brother In
one of tho primary grades.
Ohloe Mcltae will board with Mrs.

The girls of the school havo organ-
ized n basket ball team with Chloe
Mcltao as captain Mrs. lleatty as man-
ager and. Mr linker as coach.
The patrons of tho district gave a
reception to tho teachers Saturday
night at tho school building. The
evening was spent in getting acquaint-
ed with tho teachers and welcoming
them to our community. Thu teachers
responded with appropriate talks
showing their appreciation for the in-
terest thu patrons and board were
showing in the school. Light refresh-
ments of ice cream and cake were
served and all departed feeling that
success would crown their efforts.
A joint meeting of the board and
teachers was held Saturday afternoon
and plans discussed for the school year
and arrangements made for regular
meetings of the board and teachers.
All pupils not alp'ttJy in school are

ticed in our midst the past week.
