monster meeting of the Fishermen's
association was held lnre yesterday to
discuss the wholesale naturalization of
Japanese aud Chinese for the purpose
of getting fishing licenses. Several
speeches were made. It was pointed
out that the fishermen were being grad-
ually crowded out. There ore thirty-
one canneries on the Frarer river and
although the biggest pack on record Is
expected to be made this season not
one white fisherman has been employed
so far by the canneries. The Japs nnd
Chinamen are taking their places. The
native Indians are also being supplant-
ed by the Japs.
Resolutions were passed asklug the
Dominion government to refuse to
grnnt licenses to Jap nnd Chinese and
issue the same only to Indians und
whites.

the other day when nn elderly gentle-

rail before the inner rooms
"Is Mr C in?-' asked the white-
haired and venerable citizen

boy calmly
The venerable citizen looked aroun 1

dued voice
"Well. on can't see him" said the

"Wi-ll young man you can go Into

The writer had an experience with
the same boy. He called up tbo law-
yer's office- by telephone.
"Is Mr. C In'.'" he asked.
"No sir" replied the bov "What's
your name?"
"Oh never mind the name; I'll call
hlra up again."
"But what's your name?" asked the
boy again." He may want to know."
"Never mind. I won't bother you to
tell him. I'll call him up again or come
In again."
"But what's your name?" persisted
the boy.
"Never mlud I say" raid the otlur
prepared to hang up the receiver iu u
temper.
"AU right Mr. E said the boy
