The Gainesville Daily Hes-

newspaper in the way of adver-

volumes for the enterprise of its
merchants and is one thing that
more than any other.makes busi-

. The New York Herald says :
"The movement of population
from rural districts into over-
crowded cities has of late years
...assumed disquieting proportions
in Europe as well as in this
. country. The chief cause of
the movement is undoubtedly
the f act that life in most agricul-
tural communities is hard and
unattractive and whatever is
done to increase the material
comfort of existence on farms
and improve its social aspect
must tend to alleviate the evil."
Gov. R. M. Haebjk of the
Chickasaw Nation was in Deni-
son yesterday and in an inter-
view with the Herald reporter
in answer to the question:
"What prospect is there
for Jan extra session of the
legislature beingcalledf" Said:
"None has been called so far
and I don't know that there will
be a called session. The com-
mittee appointed to confer with
the Dawes commission is yet at
work on their report and I don't
know what they will recommend.
Whatever they recommend in
the premises will be carried out
but I will say this much there
will be no called session before
the holidays and none unless
. the committee recommends it."

Deputy United States Marshal
Wan-en came up from Paris last
night. He says that tin argument
in the John Stevenson case was
closed last night. It will be le-
membered that Stevenson killed
Officer Joe Gaines at Pauls Valley
I. T. about three years ago and
was sentenced to hang. He was
afterward brought to Sherman and
confined in the Houston street jtul
but was later grauted a new trial.
Mr. Warren says that it is the
general opinion that this trial will
result in the death sentence as
Stevenson's own testimony very
materially weakens his case.
