Guthrie girl now of Tulsa who isjat-
tending school at Norman has been
appointed a delegate to the National
Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Theta
Sorority which will take place in Gear-
hart Oregon some time after June
nineteenth. Miss Smith will be the
only representative from Oklahoma.

A. Hornberger were joint hcttesses
to a delightful spend the day party at

C. Hart 710 E. Warner Ave. Wed-
nesday from 2 to '5 p. m.' All the
decorations and '.nuisements were
suggestive of Easter and minature
chickens and rabbits were much in
evidence. A pen sketch was made of
a chicken-roost and a tow of nests
and' the ladies were blind-folded and
asked to pin . small chickens oh the'
roost and also put in the nests. Mrs.
H. :B. C611Ins. succeeded in putting a
chicken on the roost upside down and
Mrs IK. IH. iRyan placed one so near
the nest that 'heA was awarded a
prize .also. Both were given feath
ered fowls on wheels

tucked away In small Individual bas-
kets of many colors and "after din-

Spanish War Veteran Arrested.
Captain James Hamer who took a
prominent part in raising au Indian
territory regiment of Rough Riders
for the Spanish-American war in 1S98
was arrested Monday at Muskogee on
a warrant "charging him with second
degree burglary by breaking the lock
at the county jail and taking a supply
of contraband whisky. He was re-
leased on bond.

Roscoe Buckingham and Albert

company were taken to a hospital at
Tulsa Monday night probably fatally
injured in a gas explosion near Yar-

ing gas ignited from the engine near

Swindling Is Charged.
W. D. Leatherman and wife charged
with swindling Mrs.. Maud Lauffer of
$1200 were arraigned before Justice
W. G. Miller at Muskogee yesterday
and entered pleas of not guilty. Their
bond was fixed at $1600 each and
preliminary trial set for Thursday.
Leatherman is a race horse man and
was arrested in Meridian Miss.

Cotton In Southwest Oklahoma.
So much cotton is on hand in south-
west Oklahoma that the compress at
Altus will be required to run all sum-
mer to handle it according to advices
received at. Wichita Falls and north-
western offices . here. About 12000
bales are now at Altua with approxi
mately 30000 bales more awaiting
shipment there from other points in
the state.
