Memorial Day.
Breathes there a Man with Soul so Dead?
Who never to Himself has said
This is my own Native Land?
To-day we celebrate a National holiday devoid
la tli decorating f the) graven of the heroee who lout
their lives in tlu' Civil War.
They were men whose soul weM not "dead'
men whose hearts beat strongly with patriotic fever
tor their ''native land." They did "the right as God
gives us to see the right' with their wh le souls and
with their lives.
To-day we commemorate their deeds and their
bravery in Iheonly manner of appreciation it is given
ns to show. To-day patriotism will swell up in our
bosoms and a lusty cheer will mount into our throat
as we see the staunch old veterans whom God has
spared march on to do honor to the fallen comrades.
And that our employees and ourselves may join
in the oxceivises of commemoration we closed the
store at noon. It is a fitting tribute to tlnme brave
men who gave their all to their country
