Chas. M. Jacobson went to
Pond Creek Wednesday to enter
on his duties as Deputy County
Superintendent to which posi
tion he was appointed by Supt.
Alderson, who was elected dele
gate from the 12th district to help
draw up the constitution. This
came as a surprise to Wakitans,
as it was thought that Mr. Jacob-
son had almost become a part of
the Citizens Bank, and all regret
that circumstances take him
away from this town: he was as
successful and popular as assist-
antcashier of the Citizens Bank as
he was instructor in the school
room. Yet everyone congratu-
lates him on the appointment; it
was a just recognition of true
worth, and Mr. Jacobson is pleas-
ed to get back in touch with the
teachers of Grant county, after a
temporary absence. Mr. Alder-
son made a good selection for bis
deputy, as Mr. Jacobson is qual-
ified in.every way to»takeupthe
work in this important position.
There has been more or less talk
of Jacobson’s candidacy for the
nomination and election as Alder-
son’s sucoessor.on the Democrat-
ic ticket; he will probably have
one man to beat in the convention,

er popular man. Should Jacob-

cans would have to select the
very best man there is in that
line to win. Unless they should
choose such a man it would be a
saving of trouble and expense to
endorse Jacobson. Without prej-

laying party aside, the Herald
echoes only what everyone else
says, when it states that anyone
who knows Chas. M. Jacobson
would vote for him regardless of
party, unless they held his op-
