THIS MONTH
Greece at one time was the
center of most of the art and cul-
ure and has contributed much
to the laws of every country. At
one time they bad so many laws
that one fifth of the populace was
court each day. People got
tired of the multiplicity of laws
and it was proposed that every
iw maker, when presenting a
new law, should come into the
legislative hall wi*h a rope around
his neck and if his bill be not
passed that he at once be hanged.
Not a bad idea, but if carried out
in Oklahoma what a dertb of law-
makers there would be until af-
ter next election. The Greeks
also enacted a law that no law
once made should bechanared for
hundred years. Too many
times we fail to give the laws we
make a fair chance to be tried
out and that causes us to rise
to remark that many people of
this country are preparing to an
nul our [new franchise form of
government after less than two
years of trial.
As a farmer be

Cimarron River Bridge
County Commissioners Oliver
and Sloan and Engineer Rankin,
with several from Crescent,
went out to the river south of
town and looked over some of
the locations for the new bridge
that is to span the Cimarron
river south of Crescent County
Engineer Rankin made some pre-
liminary surveys of the locations
and it has about been decided to
locate the bridge at a point south
out of Crescent, on Main fstreet
Thi. bridge will come up tor
sanction at the July meeting of
the Excise board and also the
5Commissioners, and we under
stand that Crescent has the
promise of the bridge. The
bridge is certainly needed and
this end of the county is entitled
to such an improvement, as most,
if not all the bridges have been
located on the east part of the
county, also the big bridge near
Guthrie.
The locating of this bridge will
be a great help to this part of
the county and will give an in
and outlet south, across the
river.
