The receipts from the dinner
and supper given by the ladies of
tho Methodist church Saturday
and Saturday night were *28.85,
out of which some expenses, of
course, had to be paid.
School opened Monday, with
Miss Frankie Watt as teacher.
She holds a life certificate in Tex-
as, and furnishes abundant evi-
dence of her fitness for the work.
Indications point to a very inter-
esting and profitable session.
Last Saturday, while G. W.
Snow and wife ware attending
church in Canadian, some un-
known person entered their home
and stole several articles of cloth-
ing belonging to Mrs Snow. The
articles were afterward found a
short distance from the house.
Mrs. Leona Jennings, of Gains
Creek, was having somo legal
business fixed up in Canadian on
Col. Rufus Sarlls, of McAles-
ter, a candidate for Congress,
was in our city Tuesday getting
acquainted with our voters.
The names of .John L. Britton
and J £!. Whitehead appear in
our announcement column this
week. Suitable write-ups will
appear next week.

L- F. Metcalf, a leading farmer
from Gaines Creek, was observ-
ed on our streets Saturday, and

the realm, and had his namo in-
scribed on the roll of honor.
The political speaking at the
bchool house Saturday night was
fairly well attended. Preslie B,
Cole and John L Britton made
the pripcipal uddresses. Brief
remarks and suitable announce-
ments were made by W.B.Riley,
Tlios. R. Dean, J. E- Whitehead,
D. J. Tatu|u, and Jacob A. Mer-
er, all soliciting support in their
respective candidacies.
Being sick again this week, we
h ve tried very hard to secure a
printer, but in vain. We hope to!
