ERNEST SPIVEY WILL
VEI
The doctors report Mr. Er-
nest bpivey, the young man
that was snot througn tne back
a week ago last Saturday, rap-
idly recovering and that he wixl
soon be up and able to go home.
ihis was the hardest piece
of surgical work ever perform-
ed' in Oklahoma, and our home
doctors did all the work for
which they are entitled to the
highest of praise.
Drs. Pencfergraft, Hopkins
and Jones are the doctors that
waited- on Mr. Spivey. They
really thought at first there was
no chance for him but went
right ahead and performed the
operation, taking every precau-
tion to do it properly; Conse-
quently they have surprised
themselves in bringing the boy
through as far as they have,
and unless something sets up
in the near future he will soon
foe restored.
We want to say again that
this one case, should* give the
Hollis doctors a reputation as
being there when it comes to
surgical work, for this certain-
ly was a fair test of their abil-
ity. *
Here is hoping that Mr.
Spivey 'will soon be restored,
and that hf; will enjcy good
health in the future.

The fourth Annual Harmon
County Educational fair passed
off quietly last week and while
it is not definitely known at
present which school made the
most points, and thereby won
the cup, it is known that more
schools entered exhibits and
the exhibits represented more
nearly every grade of school
work than had- ever been shown
at the school fair.
To say that each school
made a creditable showing is
putting it very mildly. The
exhibits displayed show that
both teacher and pupil are very
much interested in the work.
Undoubtedly the coming to-
gether and comparing the
year's work is a great incen-
tive. I know of nothing more
stimulating and hope to see
more schools enter another year.
Being engaged in holding the
teachers' examination I was
not able to be on the grounds
where the games were played
but have been told that the
games were good,
There is one feature about
the Athletics that I am strict-
lv opposed to. Of course I am
"fogy" and behind the times
but nevertheless I am not so
far behind- as some otherg who
believe that decency demands no
clothing more than a few fig
leaves pinned around them to
hid-a their nakedness .
It makes no difference what
the custom may be or is, I can-
not Bee how any one can Justi-
fy the practice. If the officers
should find anyone on the
^streets dressed in such gnrb.
what would- happen? What
man, if someone wwe to walk
deliberate into his hotoe in
such dress, wouM not resent it?
A q for me being at the head
of the schools of the County I
am opposed to teaching our boys
and girls that it is right and
prooer.
Let those who believe in such
o-o to some vaudeville where
nothing else is expected.
Sincerely,
G. P. Morton.
could be seated inside.
In this contest Hollis won
first in the debate and second
in oratory.
Friday morning people began
coming to town early, and by
nine o'clock a great crowd was
moving on the streets. A great
many were gathered to witness
the preliminaries of the girls'
boys' basketball.
