’ ’ County Judge
Rev F P Allgod has sold his
residence in Idabel for $2000
and has purchased a farm near
Rufe where he will move imme-
diately Mr Allgood is a good
citizen and we regret to see him
leave but glad to know that he
has caught the “back to the
farm” spirit and has located in
one of McCurtain county’s best
agricultural districts We hope
him success in his new home
and hope that others will follow
his good example and become
producers as well as consumers
Rev Mr Daniels a Christian
preacher of piety and ability has
been holding a series of Chart
lectures on the streets of Idabel
this week The minister was
assisted by Dr Bill Moreland in
getting up a crowd and arrang-
ing the Chart etc Dr Moreland
’is a son of an old Confederate
Soldier Dr Bill himself served
through the robber and horse-
thief war that was fought out in
the mountains of McCurtain Le-
Flore and Pushmataha Counties
four years ago He is a war hero
of many battles and his bravery
borders on fanaticism He now
draws a pension from three
counties not becaue he was shot
but because he was “half shot”
during the whole raid
We beleive it is a long set pre-
cedenct when a man has been
faithful in the discharge of his
duty in public office to honor him
with the second term We are
reliably informed by a personal
friend of H X Whitten who is
our present county commission-
er has filled the office two years
will again be a candidate for the
same place Mr Whitten is a
man of his own convictions and
when he believes he is right no
one can move him He has been
very watchful for the county and
to our personal knowledge he has
saved the taxpayers some money
Should he be in the race and he
will be he will be a hard horse
to handle There is quite a re-
sponsibility attached to this office
and it takes a cool headed busi-
ness man or the tax payers will
suffer— Gazette
Mr Whitten informed the Beacon-Times
Wednesday that he
would be a candidate for re-elec-
tionand the man "who defeats
him will be our next county com-
missioner We have great faith
in Mr Whitten and do not be-
lieve that “prejudice” would
prompt him in giving out county
