The principal proposition be-
fore the meeting was the ques-
tion as to the v amount the levy
of a school tax should be fixed
at After long and lengthy ar-
guments and much general talk
a hallot was takenand the school
tax fixed at 8 1-2 mills by a vote
of 38 for it and 18 against it
The length of the school term
and the employment of teachers
were delegated to tfep members
of the School Board for thgir ac-
tion This action of the good peo-
ple of Albion means much to
the town and the advancement
of education
Albion vlll now have one of
the very best schools in this coun
ty
THE FRISCO
RAILROAD
The Frisco railroad has begun
to make some substantial and
extensive improvements on tnis
division A number of large
crews of Italians are at work
laying new step! This steel
was distributed some months
ago and has been waiting until
the management was ready to
put out the heavy expense of
laying it Thousands of heavy
creosoted ties have also been dis
tribuffd along h$ line and they
arefeping pqt under the new
Steel The steel weighs 75
pounds to the foot jpid is 30 feet
long the same size as that used
on the Iron Mountain and qther
high grade roads The Frisco
has an excellent road-bed and
when these large r$ils are put
down the road will be ip fine

accepted a position as deputy

Parks J E Ward who held
the position has resigned to ao-
cept a position as checking clerk
in the Frisco depot at Paris
C E Walker who lost his
saw mill near town by fire

any grass grow under his feet
He has completely rebuilt his
large plant and it is now in oper
