To Catch
IN MOST cities a street car does not pick up pass-
engers unless they are waiting at the stopping
place The Oklahoma Railway Company is un-
usually liberal in this respect Our motormen
are instucted to wait for passengers if they are
within a reasonable distarce
But our patrons should bear in ttimd that it costs
us 5 cents a minute to operate a car-
on the Bere Isle line for example a car will av-
erage 40 stops on a one-way trip during rush
hours The average "dead line" for each stop
is Cseconds ' or a total of 4 minutes for the trio
Suppose each car was compelled to wait an aa
ditional 10 seconds at half the 40 stops The car
would then be delayed 3 4 minutes more
On rnany of our Ices a minute's delay throws the
ear off schedule A Lay Vegas ear for instance
might require two hours to make up five minutes
might require two hours to make up five minutes
Anki a delay in schedule always means a loss of
business

the people here of the problems facing the
