Harry Childers, representing the
O. A. Stem pel, fire extinguisher, of
St. Louis, Mo., was in the city the
Hrst of the week with his tire ex-
tinguishers, at.d made a test with il
on Monday right, which proved
satisfactory to a great many and on
Tuesday morning another test was
made to satify the doubtful minds.
A structure was crected or. the
street of pine, boards and other rub-
bish to about If feet high and 8 feat
wide anu a foot thick, and set on
fire to give it a thorough test. The
fire was burning at a very rapid
speed of about 20 feet high when
he was ordered to turn the machine
onto it. He made good work with
his first machine and had the fire
almost out when he picked up his
second machine and gave it a shake
to brake the bottle of aeid, when he
discovered that some one had taken
out the acid. The.-machine proved;
to be a good extinguisher to its size.
Brown & Cress and A. M. Sturges
purchased one of the extinguishers,
Wilkie ife Leidgon also purchased
one for the use of their flowing
mills.
