BANKRUPTCY
NEW LAWS IN EFFECT IN LESS THAN 60 DAYS
THAT LIMIT FOUR RIGHTS
In less than 60 days, new federal laws will go into effect that will
dramatically affect our constitutional right to be relieved of excessive debt.
The credit card companies have won a battle that will require many debtors
to have to repay a large portion of their unsecured debts; debts that you
presently can bankrupt completely.
Other changes in the bankruptcy laws include extending the time between
filing bankruptcies. You can presently file after six years, the change will
make it eight years before you can fill bankruptcy again.
Chapter 7 bankruptcies, w herein you can get rid of all unsecured debts,
will become much harder to file and you will be required to undergo credit
counseling before filing any bankruptcy. A great percentage of debtors
will be forced to file a Chapter 13, wherein they will have to enter into a
five or three year repayment plan.
If you are considering filing bankruptcy or are in over your head in credit
card debt, medical bills, or even secured debts that you cannot get repaid,
you should act quickly. Filing before the new laws go into effect could
save you thousands of dollars. Please call our office to request more
information.
