ended Saturday evening with the Perry Maroons crowning
five champions in the finals at John Divine hall.
The Maroons amassed 200 points on their way to an-
other regional championship and advanced eight men to the
state tournament.
Anadarko captured second place honors with 129%
points, one champion and six state qualifiers. Marlow and
Clinton each collected two champions while Weatherford,
Tuttle and McLoud each crowned a single champion.
The Maroons’ five champions were Jason Leonard, 130;
Scotty Waltermire, 136; Chance Leonard, 141; David Shel-
ton, 158; and Mike Stahl, 178. Second place winners were
Clem Yockey, 123, and Scott Klingaman, heavyweight. The
only fourth place finisher for Perry was Darrick Wilcox,
115-pounder.
The state tournament will begin Thursday at Gallagher
hall on the OSU campus at Stillwater. Class 3A action is
slated to begin at 1 p.m. Thursday. Friday’s sessions will
be at 12 noon and 6 p.m. Saturday’s sessions will be at 10
a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

for 13 points for Billings. El-
don Hunt had four field goals
and three free losses for 11
points for the Bulldogs.
Billings started off with
nine points. The Bulldogs did
well with 18 points in the sec-
ond period, but fell back to
seven points in the third
period.

bracket game in the regional
tournament. A loss Thursday
would mean elimination. A
win would advance the Perry-
ans to more regional tourna-
ment play. Perry’s season
record 17-7.
Ramon Gissandaner led the
Maroons with nine rebounds
with Robert Roark getting
five rebounds.
Willie Brown and Gissand-
aner each scored 16 points for
Perry. Each Maroon had
seven field goals and two free
shots. Bobby Yenor hit five
from the field and one more
shot form the free throw
marker. Thomas Tabbert,
Roark and Steve Berry each
put points on the board for
trailed 13-10 after the first
quarter and were behind 25-20
at the half. The Maroons out-
scored Kingfisher 12-10 in the
third period and came off
equal 22-22 in the final period.
