Tyler, Texas, junior college is Teresa Fuxa, Shawnee high
school basketball star, who is the daughter of a former Perry
couple and granddaughter of Perryans. Miss Fuxa is at lower
right in the photo. At lower left is Coach Herb Richardson of
Tyler Junior college. Standing are Miss Fuxa’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Larry Fuxa, Shawnee, formerly of Perry.

Teresa Fuxa, Shawnee high
school basketball star, grand-
daughter of Perryans, has sign-
ed letter of intent to play next
season at Tyler Junior college
at Tyler, Texas.
She is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Larry Fuxa, Shawnee,
formerly of Perry. Mrs. Fuxa is
the former Phyllis Gerken. Her
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
D. W. Gerken, route 3, Perry,
and Mrs. Eunice Fuxa, 101
Delaware street. Great-grand-
parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Fuxa, 312 Twelfth street, and
the late Mrs. Susie Hoffman,
route 3, Perry.
She was the state’s leading
scorer in girls basketball the
past season in 5A and won the
4A championship in the shot
put. She has thrown a record 43’
V" for a record in the shot put
in the state.
She has 1,802 career points in
basketball and had a Shawnee
game record of 59 points. She
has recorded 111 steals and 307
career rebounds. She was nam-
ed the female athlete of the year
at Shawnee and has a game
average of 31.8 points. She also
had a .427 batting average in
softball.
She has been chosen a mem-
ber of the East All-State basket-
ball team and will play in the
Oklahoma-Texas all-star game
in Lindsay July 18.

firm that co-sponsored the Miss
New York-New Jersey beauty
pageant is seeking to block the
television broadcast of the
contest, claiming the eventual
winner, Deborah Fountain,
"tarnished" the company’s
image by stuffing her bra
during the Miss U.S.A. pageant.
Future Craft Enterprises
Inc., a Westbury dinnerware
manufacturer, filed a $2 million
damage suit against Miss
Fountain and sought an injunc-
tion Friday to stop the regional
broadcast of the show by WOR-
TV.
