Don’t Miss It!
Dear
Priest goes to bat
for office secretaries
By Abigail Van Buren
to wnw cae vwe-m. v. Now od. me.)
DEAR ABBY: To recap an interesting letter in the
Cleveland Plain Dealer: A receptionist in a large business
office failed to recognise a valued customer because he
wasn’t dressed as he usually was, so her boss chastised
her, causing her to spend the weekend in bed with a mi-
graine.
Console the poor lady! Nuns who wear Sears dresses or
“contemporary pastels" must now produce identification
when they request "Discounts to religious" while shopping.
Clergymen who insist on walking about in casual multi
cannot complain when they’re herded like hoi polloi; they
also must produce identification for “clergy discounts.”
The moral is: If the customer in so valued and es-
teemed, but dresses in a manner not associated with his
aeut presence, he should be prepared to identify himself
Mbie "Roman collar."
Gen. Montgomery, and every general since Napoleon,
wore a peculiar noggin-piece to avoid being accidentally ahot
by one of hie own men, as was Stonewall Jackson, and more
recently an Israeli general.
Accidents, as befell the poor secretary, do happen.
Most understanding persons smile thru the discomfiture of
not being instantly recognized. Bob Hope does. Sincerely,
FATHER LIEDERBACH, CLEVELAND
DEAR FATHER: Bob Hope’s meet reedUy Monulying
feature is aa lastantly recognised as a general’s noggin-
plece. Everyone “nose” Hope.
